Scottish Borders Woodland Project From Woodland Creation
Here at Woodland Creation, we’re involved in a number of woodland projects across Scotland to help reforest areas and provide lucrative investment opportunities for investors. In 2019, we obtained a 40-hectare space of land in the Scottish Borders which we are currently transforming into a productive woodland. The trees we have planted in the area are perfect for the south-sloping land they are placed on and it is designed to provide a source of timber in the future and create a thriving habitat for local wildlife.
Heartwood Forest
Heartwood Forest is located near to St Albans in Hertfordshire. The land, which mainly consists of farmland, was acquired by the Woodland Trust back in 2008 and is planned to become one of the largest forests in Britain. Only around 44 acres of the 858-acre site were ancient woodland when it was acquired, but the entire space is now being transformed into woodland as we speak. The project plans to plant 600,00 trees to make it England’s biggest continuous native forest and the scheme nearly won a Guinness World Record for the most trees planted in one hour with an astonishing 20,326 trees planted!
The aim of this gargantuan forest is to improve biodiversity and it seems to have succeeded so far. Many species’ populations doubled between 2010 and 2016 as the forest continued to grow. In 2019, the forest attracts significantly more than 100,000 visitors per year!
