Woodland Creation Grants

Woodland Creation Grants

The Scottish Government have set an ambitious target of planting 10,000 hectares per year, rising to 15,000 hectares per year by 2025.

Woodland Creation Grants are available as part of the Scottish Government Forestry Grant Scheme. These grants will support woodlands that create economic, environmental and social benefits within Scotland.

There are nine different planting models, ranging from productive conifers to native species as well as specific models aimed at farm diversification and establishing trees on the islands.

In addition to planting grants, there is additional financial support for fencing, access and tree protection in order to give your new woodland the best opportunity for establishment.

Grants are paid in stages, with initial payments on the completion of planting and subsequent annual maintenance payments for five years, helping to ease the burden of cash flow through the establishment phase.
